I loathe Austin traffic on a normal day and really hate SXSW and ACL traffic, but I’ll fight it to hang out for a while with the other Jalops. Swing by, say hi, and enjoy. I’ll tell you about my car being in the movie “Everybody Wants Some” which premiered this past Friday. Or we can talk about who knows what. Enjoy this pic of my car alongside my Dad’s TR8 last time I visited them over in Hilton Head, SC.

Nice Triumphs! I’ve got two Spitfires now, although both are projects :S

What’s the story with yours?

Big fan of the TR8 as well :) BL really should have taken that further than they did...

See you there. I’ll be avoiding all other SX activities like the plague.

Oh, now you’ve done it. I still miss my 1976 Spitfire. The damage wasn’t really all that bad was it? It could have been saved regardless of what the insurance agent said. I should have tried harder. I tell myself that the 1997 Miata in the garage is really a Spitfire with Japanese reliability, but who am I kidding?

I went to one event last night but it was way too crowded so I left before it began, and my GF and I hung out walking around the East side a bit then watched a movie at home.

Was the frame twisted? If not then it was easily fixed other than the money they’d have to pay out. Mine was backed into by an SUV with a hitch, and I just had to replace the hood.

My Spitfire is likely the hardest working one in the world. 86,000 miles since March 2010. An autocross class championship in 2013. Driven to and from Hilton Head, SC with my dog straight through. Undergoing an eternal rolling restoration. At least this year it shall be painted. We also have a 1962 TR4. Plus my 1971 MGB (it’s coming up for sale soon...) and my 1987 Jag XJ6.

Bent frame, so they said.

Oof. I still would tell them to fix it. Frames are easy to come by pretty much. I dragged out my claim when I was backed into (sitting at a traffic light at 10pm, the guy in front of me decided to reverse so he could go back home vs go around the block) for a few months. That guy’s insurance company hated me.

Nice :) I wish we had proper autocross here in the UK that I could head to once mine’s done. Congrats on the win btw!

I like the rest of the stable too. Early TRs have never really been my thing but I definitely get the appeal. I’ve wanted an MGB for a while now, but mainly because I’ve got it into my head how cool one would be with an RV8, AWD and lifted on Baja-like suspension...

I've got a '92 XJ6 and it's a really lovely car. If I wasn't so tight on cash I'd drive that daily :)

Definitely should have argued it. It's body on frame so fixing that is as easy as buying another frame for $150 and swapping everything over...
